AGV Motorcycle Helmets
AGV is one of the leading motorcycle helmet brands in the world. An Italian legend, AGV was born in 1947 in Valenza, Italy.
Gino Amisano (1920-2009) founded AGV. The name (AGV) came from the initials of his founder’s name and the initials of the city (Gino Amisano Valenza).
AGV started with motorcycle helmets and perfected its craft over 75+ years. Its first helmet was a leather protector molded in wooden molds. It also had a soft inner lining to absorb impact. It was not much, but it was better than nothing.
AGV continued to experiment with different helmet materials. Fiberglass was first used in cars in 1949. Soon after, in 1954, Gino Amisano used this new, light, strong, and durable material in motorcycle helmets.
With a fiberglass helmet in its arsenal, AGV dived headfirst into motorcycle racing. Gino Amisano partnered with renowned racers of his time, including Kenny Roberts, Barry Sheene, Johnny Cecotto, Steve Baker, Ángel Nieto, Giacomo Agostini, and Valentino Rossi. These partnerships were game changers for the brand and garnered valuable trust from motorcyclists.
This brand-athlete/sportsperson partnership model is the same as that of Nike. AGV reached another milestone of fame when Emerson Fittipaldi won an F1 race with an AGV helmet on.
AGV makes a wide range of motorcycle helmets, including full-face helmets, open-face helmets, urban jet helmets, enduro helmets, motocross helmets, adventure helmets, touring helmets, and sports helmets.
